PARENTS:
Did you know that your child could lose up to two months of learning during summer vacation? When kids take a complete break from books, they often return to school having lost ground in critical skills. Children
who participate in library reading programs not only maintain their skills—many actually improve over the break while developing a genuine love for reading. Fight this "summer slide" with our summer challenge! It's free, fun, and one of the smartest parenting moves you can make.
What is a library challenge?
Simply put, a library challenge is a fun way to ensure that you, your kids, your family, are reading and learning. A challenge can be set up like a game, a BINGO board, a checklist, a tracker, or some other fun way to keep track of reading and activities. Prizes and rewards are given for completing challenges. Library challenges grew out of a need to keep younger readers on track during school breaks by measuring and rewarding reading. We think that rewarding reading is appropriate for everyone and all seasons.
